Wider mental health improvement resources

Towards a Mentally Flourishing Scotland recognises that it does not cover all areas that can influence mental health improvement in Scotland, instead it focuses on areas that are likely to have the largest impact and where action is likely to be cumulative in supporting and reinforcing other government priorities for action.

Mental Health Improvement Terminology and Working Understandings [external site]
NHS Health Scotland has developed a paper to ensure that clarity and coordination of mental health terminology is consistent across the organisation. It should be noted that this paper sets out the terminology and definitions which are used by NHS Health Scotland staff, but recognises that other models and paradigms are held and used by other individuals, professions and organisations

The National Union of Journalists developed and produced a guidebook to help journalists report mental health issues safely, accurately and using appropriate language.

The mental health of its citizens is a vital but under-valued resource within the EU. There is a close relationship between the EU’s policy objectives of prosperity, social inclusion and security and public health on the one hand, and mental health on the other.
