Research allows us to plan, develop and deliver effective programmes.

Ongoing research is critical to improving Scotland's mental health and wellbeing, allowing us to plan, develop and deliver effective programmes.

Another important strand of research is to conduct regular surveys of public attitudes to mental health issues in Scotland. This has been carried out for a number of years in the form of the Well? What Do You Think? Survey

Current research has been categorised into the six priorities around Towards a Mentally Flourishing Scotland (TAMFS).

In this section

  1. Mentally healthy children and young people
  2. Mentally healthy later life
  3. Mentally healthy communities
  4. Mentally healthy employment and working life
  5. Reducing suicide, self-harm and common mental health problems
  6. Improving the life of those experiencing mental health problems
  7. Wider mental health improvement research
