Mental Health Improvement Outcomes Framework

Approach

Working in partnership, NHS Health Scotland has developed an outcomes framework, with individuals from government, health boards, local authorities and the third sector.

Aim

  • Develop an outcomes framework which identifies the key outcomes for mental health improvement.
  • Specify those local activities which might be undertaken to achieve key outcomes.
  • Support an outcomes-focussed and evidence-informed approach.

Local Use

We are currently working with colleagues across Scotland to use the framework, in order to identify key outcomes for mental health improvement which are locally relevant.

In December 2011 a qualitative research project was commissioned to help identify the barriers and facilitators to using the Outcomes Framework for Mental Health Improvement and what NHS Health Scotland can do to minimise barriers and maximise facilitators.
