The Mental Health and Wellbeing in Later Life Programme
Funded by the National Programme for Improving Mental Health and Wellbeing and Health Scotland, the Programme oversees research and project work around mental health and wellbeing in later life.
Listening and Responding to Older People
The Programme is committed to gathering the opinions and experiences of older people as it works to improve services and knowledge about mental health in later life. The make-up of the Programme itself was moulded by a wide consultation and by two days of workshops with older people and those involved in providing care and services to them.

Helping Older People Participate
Not everyone feels comfortable at meetings and in workshops. To make sure that the voices of those the Programme consults are heard, training was arranged so that older people could build their confidence and communication skills. The sessions were well received. To find out more about 'Bolder and Wiser' and 'Education for Participation' training sessions, contact the Centre for the Older Person's Agenda.
Health in Later Life Regional Interest Groups
Three Health in Later Life Regional Interest Groups have been established (East, West and North). The groups, which include older people as well as professionals, meet three times a year to consider older people's issues and to share information about work in local areas.
Later Life Small Projects Awards Scheme
Eight small projects were selected for awards in 2004-2006. Activities range from a film production in Greenock to improving palliative care in Unst. Read more about Small Projects Award Scheme winning projects...
