Proposals for a new national mental health strategy bringing together work to improve mental health services and mental health improvement. Proposals intend to build on the current approach and seek Stakeholder’s views on the direction of travel for the next 4 years to further improve mental health outcomes.

End of Life Assistance (Scotland) Committee Calls for Written Evidence

A Scottish Parliament committee is calling for written evidence to help shape its examination of the issue of ‘assisted death’. The End of Life Assistance (Scotland) Bill Committee [external site] was set up last month to consider the general principles of the Bill introduced in the Scottish Parliament by Margo MacDonald MSP [external site] on 20 January 2010.
The committee is inviting views in writing on all aspects of the Bill. It wants responses to address a number of points, including:

A Consultation on Responding to Self Harm in Scotland

The National Self-Harm Working Group was formed to improve knowledge and understanding of self-harm and formulate an appropriate response. The group agreed a discussion paper, which is now being presented as a consultation document. This consultation is now complete and responses are being considered. Details will appear here.
