Art In the Forest Boosts Wellbeing of Mental Health Patients
Patients with mental health problems have taken part in a successful project to improve their health and wellbeing through environmental art.
Around 80 patients took part in the Branching Out project, which involved spending time in local woodlands and creating sculptures and works of art using natural materials such as leaves, branches and vegetation.

Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Homicide by People with Mental Illness
The UK National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Homicide by People with Mental Illness, based at the University of Manchester, collects clinical data on people who die by suicide or commit homicide and who have been in contact with mental health services. They make recommendations on clinical practice and policy based on their findings. Since 1997 the Scottish Government has funded the Scottish element of this research. The Inquiry’s latest 5-year report on Scottish data was published on 16 June 2008. full article

We recently concluded our consultation on the discussion document 'Towards a Mentally Flourishing Scotland: The Future of Mental Health Improvement in Scotland 2008-11'. An analysis of the responses to the consultation has been completed, and the findings have now been published in a summary report. full article
