Scottish Health Promoting Schools Unit

The Scottish Government has set every school in Scotland the target of becoming a health promoting school by 2007. This involves a whole-school approach to promoting the physical, social, spiritual, mental and emotional wellbeing of all pupils and staff.

Informing policy, providing information

The Unit works to influence policy at national and local levels. It provides information and guidance to schools on how to promote the health and wellbeing of pupils and staff. It also provides information to parents and community groups.

The Scottish Health Promoting Schools Unit and the National Programme

The Unit is helping to work towards the National Programme's aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people – one of our priority areas.
