Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)

  • What’s ASIST for? ASIST is intended as 'suicide first aid' training. It helps participants to become more ready, willing and able to recognise and intervene effectively to help people at risk of suicide.
  • Who’s it for? ASIST is for anyone who wants to learn how to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. It is also of relevance to anyone interested in suicide prevention.
  • How much does ASIST cost? Costs vary.
  • How long does ASIST take? Two consecutive full days.
  • Where does ASIST take place? Across Scotland.

ASIST is a two-day intensive, interactive and practice-dominated course aimed at providing people with the skills to spot the risk of suicide and provide immediate help to those at risk.

In the same way that skills are needed for physical first aid, ASIST develops the skills necessary for suicide first aid.

ASIST is the most widely used suicide intervention skills training in the world.
ASIST is suitable for anyone and participants come from all sectors and backgrounds. Sessions are run regularly all over Scotland.
