  • How long does STORM take? STORM consists of four half-day modules which can be done on a flexible basis.
  • Where does STORM take place? Across Scotland.

STORM is focused on developing skills that are easy to learn and transferable into practice. The package is designed to be flexible and adaptable to the needs of a service. STORM is made up of four modules:

  • Assessment concentrates on the skills needed to assess the risk of suicide (compulsory).
  • Crisis management focuses on the skills needed to keep a person safe once the risk of suicide has been identified (compulsory).
  • Problem solving involves helping a person take control of their problems (optional).
  • Crisis prevention focuses on developing a plan for the future in the event that the risk of suicide may arise again (optional).

Training is generally cascaded throughout an organisation. Over the last three years, STORM facilitators have delivered training to over 500 participants.
